Ans – The hilly slopes are divided into steps and various kinds of crops like maize , coffee , fruits etc are cultivated here. This type of farming is known as Terrace Farming.

Ans – When the soil gets washed away by water and wind , this process is known as soil erosion.
Q4. Differentiate between perennial and non-perennial rivers.
Ans – Perennial rivers are ones that arise from the glaciers in Himalayan mountains. Some such rivers are Ganga , Yamuna , Indus and Brahmaputra. These rivers normally have water throughout the year.
2. Non-perennial rivers are ones that depend on rainfall for their water. Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri are examples of such rivers.
