Maintain the Computer

Classwork Assignment

A – Define the following terms :-

1. Disk Cleanup – Windows includes disk cleanup program in the Control Panel. It scans the computer for temporary files and other files that can be deleted. We can then delete the files to free up space on the hard drive.

2. System Restore –  System restore is a feature in computer system that enables us to create a point in computer. If we have any problem then we can restore the system to that previous point when the problem did not occur.

3. Temp Files – Temp files are the temporary files that are stored in the computer while we work on it. We should remove these Temp files once  week to ensure that the computer system works smoothly.

B – Answer the following questions :-

Q1. Write the steps to clean Temp files.

Ans – Steps to remove Temp Files are :-

Step 1. Turn ON the computer. The main screen will appear.

Step 2. Move the mouse pointer to the ( – ) sign at the right bottom corner of the scroll bar. The Charm bar will appear.

Step 3. Click on the Search Charm and type Run in Apps Search Charm Box.

Step 4. Type %temp% in the open box and click on OK.

Step 5. Press Ctrl + A from the keyboard to select all files .

Step 6. Press the Delete key from the keyboard.

Q2. Write the steps to apply Disk cleanup to the Local Disk.

Ans – Steps to apply Disk Cleanup to the Local Disk :-

Step 1. Open hard disk of the computer.

Step 2. Right click on any Local Disk.

Step 3. Click on Properties.

Step 4. Click on  Disk Cleanup.

Step 5. Check the radio button of all the option and click on OK.

Step 6. Click on Delete Files. Click on OK.

Q3. Write the steps to create a System Restore point.

Ans – Steps to create a System Restore Point :-

Step 1. Turn on the computer and main screen will appear.

Step 2. Move the mouse pointer to the sign at the right bottom coroner of the scroll bar.

Step 3. Click on search Charm. Click on setting.

Step 4. Type create a restore point in settings search Charm box. Press the Enter Key.

Step 5. Click on create. Type the description for restore point.

Step 6. Click on Create.

Step 7. ( a message box will appear ) click on close.

Step 8. Click on system restore. ( The System restore dialog box will appear )

Step 9. Click on Next . Select the point to which we want to restore the computer.

Step 10. Click on Next. Click on Finish to confirm the restore point.

Step 11. ( A message box will appear ) Click on Yes.

Step 12. ( The System will be restarted and the message will appear ) Click on Close.

Q4. Write some simple solutions to common problems of the computer.

Ans – Simple solutions to common problems of the computer :-

1. Shut down or restart your computer.

2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to stop the running program

3. Reopen the program

4. Update the antivirus in your computer.

5. Update the software.
